Marcus Behrendt
Marcus has been a Managing Partner at BMW i Ventures since joining in 2018.
Previously, he spent 5 years with BMW as VP User Experience (Control Panels, Ergonomics) and as a Senior Manager and then VP in HMI Concepts and Concept Quality. Prior to BMW he was Head of European Operations at JD Power for 7 years, spent 7 years with Mercedes-Benz in various project management roles, and was a Business Development Specialist at Herlitz PBS for 3 years. For many years, Marcus was an active volunteer and later Chairman for the Verein Berliner Austauschschüler and Stiftung Austausch Berlin, which are both foundations supporting youth exchange.
Marcus holds a degree in Management and Engineering from Technische Universität Berlin and an Executive Degree in Venture Capital from UC Berkeley - Haas School of Business.
Kasper Sage
Kasper has been with BMW i Ventures since 2016 and serves as a Managing Partner. He has spent most of his career as venture capital investor in Silicon Valley.
Previously he was part of 7Innovate, the venture capital arm of ProsiebenSat1 Media SE, focused on early stage investments in Silicon Valley, Israel, and Asia. Kasper has also held roles as a Manager of Business Development & Partnering at Deutsche Telekom, a Management Consultant at Detecon (Deutsche Telekom Group), and Head of Marketing at the startups Sabienzia Technologies and aka-aki networks.
Kasper holds an MA (Diplom) in Strategic Marketing from the University of the Arts Berlin.
Baris Guzel
Baris joined BMW i Ventures in 2017 and is a Partner.
Previously, he worked with several VC funds: Presidio Partners, The Halo Funds, and New Commercial Room, and top-tier investment banks on Wall Street: BofA Merrill Lynch and Deutsche Bank. During his time at Deutsche Bank, Baris advised technology companies on strategic decisions, M&A, and IPO transactions.
Baris holds a BS in Industrial Engineering from Istanbul Technical University. He also holds a Master of Engineering and Technology Management (MEB Scholarship) from Duke University, and an MBA from UNC Chapel Hill, where he was a Dean’s Fellow with a full merit scholarship. While at business school, Baris managed VCIC (vcic.org), the world’s largest venture capital investment competition with participants from over 70 top business schools on 3 continents.
Michael Hammer
Michael has been with BMW i Ventures since 2016 building the general fund structure, investment process and operations from scratch as CFO. He oversees all operational and financial matters on a daily basis, and interacts as the interface to the LP and the fund operations in Luxemburg.
Previously, he spent 5 years with BMW Group as Investment Manager for BMW’s pension assets and strategic liquidity with assets under management of more than $20bn. In addition, Michael managed the BMW foundation’s capital implementing one of the first impact investing strategies in Europe. Prior to BMW he was a Senior Investment Consultant for 5 years at Mercer Oliver Wyman, advising large institutional investors on asset allocation, alternative investment strategies, asset manager selection and implementing derivative hedging portfolios.
Michael holds an MA (Diploma) in Financial Mathematics and Economics from the University of Ulm.
Inga Grieger
Inga G. Grieger is Business Development Manager and Managing Director at BMW i Ventures. In this role, she strengthens the strategic collaboration between the portfolio companies of BMWi Ventures and the BMW Group. In addition, Inga focuses on strengthening ecosystems and bridging value creation. With 19 years of professional experience in the automotive sector, Inga brings a wealth of experience to her role.
Prior to joining the fund, she garnered valuable experiences on the supplier side. She spent ten years at BMW Group in various positions focusing on BMW Design innovation, interior development and digital products, specializing in innovation management. With her background as an automotive designer, she always has an eye on the needs of customers
Inga holds a diploma in Transportation Design (University of Applied Sciences Munich) as well as a diploma in Business Administration (IWW).
Samantha Huang
Samantha Huang is a Principal at BMW i Ventures, where she focuses on investments across AI and big data, automotive, Industry 4.0, sustainability, and the next generation of human experiences. She also serves as Head of Content and Board Director for the Emerging Venture Capitalists Association, a nonprofit organization for empowering the next generation of venture capitalists.
Samantha previously worked at Robert Bosch Venture Capital and in corporate development at SK Telecom. She also worked as Lead Researcher at the Rock Center for Corporate Governance at Stanford University on research projects centered on innovation and entrepreneurship.
She holds a J.D. from UC Berkeley Law School and an MA in history from Stanford University. Samantha is also a licensed California attorney.
Scott Walbrun
Scott Walbrun is a Principal at BMW i Ventures, where he focuses on Series A & B investments across clean tech, mobility, software, and robotics. In this capacity, Scott serves on the board as a director or observer for seven companies, and he was recognized in 2022 as a Global Corporate Venturing Rising Star. Outside of BMW i Ventures, he serves as a mentor and workshop leader for hundreds of startups through various accelerator programs across the country, including at Argonne National Labs.
Prior to joining BMW i Ventures, Scott provided M&A and capital markets advisory as a member of Jefferies’ Technology Investment Banking team. Scott joined Jefferies after completing his MBA at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. While completing his MBA, he worked at Kinzie Capital Partners evaluating private equity investments, as well as at the Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation supporting the commercialization of science-based and deep tech companies.
Prior to business school, Scott managed Strategic Finance and FP&A at Truck Hero (a TA Associates portfolio company) and began his career in Fiat Chrysler’s Finance Leadership Development Program.
Allen Chen
Allen Chen is a Senior Associate at BMW i Ventures, where he focuses on early-stage investments across mobility, supply chain, manufacturing, and sustainability. On the side, he is the writer of Urban Tech Digest, a recurring publication on the intersection between cities and emerging technologies.
Prior to joining venture capital, he spent time at Uber and Lilium in scaling their operations and commercial partnerships. He began his career as a strategy consultant at L.E.K. Consulting, where he advised private equity and corporate clients in their M&A and growth strategy.
Allen holds a BBA in Finance and Strategy Consulting from Emory University.
Thomas Molleker
Thomas Molleker is a Senior Associate at BMW i Ventures, where he focuses on investments in technologies that improve sustainability across transportation, manufacturing, and supply chains.
Prior to joining BMW i Ventures, he was an Analyst at Yttrium, a growth equity firm specializing in late-stage B2B technology companies.
He holds a B.Sc. in Business Administration from the University of Mannheim, where he was awarded a full scholarship from the German Academic Scholarship Foundation (<1% of students in Germany).
Alexander Branding
Alexander Branding is a Senior Associate at BMW i Ventures, where he focuses on investments in sustainable transition.
Prior to joining BMW i Ventures, he was an Investment Manager at Haniel Growth Capital, a German investment holding company specializing in climtetech companies. Before transitioning to VC he worked in DCM Investment Banking at Societe Generale in Frankfurt and Sales & Trading at ACT Commodities in Amsterdam.
He holds an M.Sc with Distinction in Finance from Nova School of Business & Economics and an M.Sc with Distinction from Louvain School of Management and a B.Sc in Business Administration from the University of Gothenburg, School of Business, Economics & Law.
Brian Wei
Brian Wei is an Associate at BMW i Ventures, where he focuses on early to growth stage investments in B2B application and infrastructure software, industrial automation, mobility, and sustainability.
Prior to BMW i Ventures, Brian was a strategy consultant at KPMG Strategy where he provided growth strategy and M&A due diligence for clients across cloud computing, fintech, and telecommunications.
He received his bachelor’s degree from Harvard with a concentration in statistics.
Margret Dupslaff
Margret Dupslaff is part of BMW i Ventures' investment team. As part of the Munich office, she focuses on new investment activities in Europe and Israel. Her focus areas are technology-first, early-stage investments in B2B software, climate tech, and production and supply chain. Before joining BMW i Ventures, she honed her skills at McKinsey, advising clients in the semiconductor, automotive, and aerospace industries.
Margret's academic credentials include an MBA with Distinction from INSEAD, an M.Sc. with Distinction in Aerospace Engineering from TU Munich, and a B.Sc. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Stuttgart.
Aneta Auberger
Aneta is the Executive Assistant and Project Manager at BMW i Ventures, providing administrative support to senior executives and managing HR processes.
Previously she held positions as an Executive Assistant and HR Manager in international companies within the media and construction sectors, including companies such as ProSiebenSat.1, Alpine Bau Deutschland AG and Ströer Group. Her international experience is enhanced by her roles at various diplomatic institutions, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Poland and the Polish Embassy in Moscow.
Aneta holds a Master’s degree in European Studies from the University of Vienna (Austria) and both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Slavic Philology and Andragogy from the University of Bamberg (Germany). Additionally, she is fluent in several languages: Polish, German, English, and Russian.
Sasha Kantor
Tom Springer
Tom Springer is an Analyst at BMW i Ventures, where he focuses on investments across AI enabling layers, robotics, alternative powertrains, and climate tech. His journey with BMW i Ventures began in January 2023 as a Visiting Analyst in Munich, before transitioning to the San Francisco team in September 2023.
Prior to joining the fund, he worked at two enterprise software startups in business development and product management roles. Tom is also committed to social impact through his volunteer work. Since September 2018, he has been involved in project management and board positions at several NGOs in South Africa, where he empowers youth through educational programs and bridges the digital divide with technology access initiatives.
Tom is completing his B.Sc in Mechanical Engineering and B.Sc. in Business Administrations at the University of California at Berkeley’s M.E.T program.
